Day 01: Colombo - Dambulla / Kandalama

Welcome to Colombo, upon arrival you will be met & transfer to Dambulla/Kandalama. En route visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Stay overnight in Dambulla. (-/L/D)

Anuradhapura is one of the greatest and oldest civilizations in the world spanning over 1300 years and it was the first capital of Sri Lanka. Stroll through the sacred trails of the venerated city, adore the gigantic dagoba resting alongside the Basawakkulama Tank & Isurumuniya Rock Temple that empower the culture, heritage and supremacy of arguably the strongest kingdom in Sri Lankan history.

Continue on to Mihintale, the cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Walk passing a massive cooling fountain and head towards the renowned staircase of the temple.

Also, visit the Aukana Buddha statue, one of the foremost cultural & religious attractions in Sri Lanka. Stay overnight in Kandalama. (B/L/D)

Today visit the ancient city of Polonnaruwa.

Rising with the decline of Anuradhapura, the city of Polonnaruwa remains superior proof of ancient culture & heritage blended with religious beliefs. Walk across its scattered walls of the World Heritage Site - blessed by stupas, resting Buddha statues, irrigation canals and fantastically carved Hindu sculptures.

Thereafter, proceed to Sigirya and climb the historic Rock Fortress. Step through the gigantic 'Lion Paws' - overlooking the symmetrical royal gardens below. Walk in the shade of an eminent 'mirror wall' embracing the Western face of Sigiriya representing an artistic hundred meters laminated with graffiti. Wander into the well-fabricated museum downstairs for an epic journey of yesteryears. Stay overnight in Kandalama. (B/L/D)

This morning proceed to Dambulla and visit the Dambulla Rock Temple. Continue on to Kandy, the World Heritage Site & last royal capital of Sri Lankan kings. Walk in the city centre bundled with latest and world class brands, bazaar, an arts & crafts centre. Drive towards Victoria Golf Course, undoubtedly one of the best golf courses in the world for a sweep blended with class and style. Tonight enjoy the beat of traditional music & drumming amplified by a cultural show enhancing the rich and vibrant culture of the Wonder of Asia, Sri Lanka. Stay overnight in Kandy. (B/L/D)

This morning visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden. Walk into this 147 acre bliss of an experience, passing green lawns, pavilions & an octagon conservatory. Proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Take a hike through the green grass and red-brick walls and enjoy breathtaking views of a buzzing countryside hamlet. Hop into a rattling train smoking and hissing its way through green

Enjoy a city tour of Nuwara Eliya, the renowned British colonial retreat. Once governed by English & Scottish planters, it is still studded with colonial bungalows, hedgerows & one of the finest 18-hole golf courses in the world. Stay overnight in Kandapola. (B/L/D)

Proceed to Udawalawe, take a safari of The Udawalawe National Park by jeep. Witness trumpets across the border as you approach elephant country around the corner. Hop into a safari jeep and head into the park with and see deer, sambur, barking deer, water buffalo and jackal. Stay overnight in Udawalawe. (B/L/D)

Drive to Balapitya, take a boat trip in Madhu River. Head towards Kotu Duwa, the small island housing a temple that dates back to ancient Sinhalese kings. Or, sail through tunnels of shady mangroves swaying alongside Madu River to witness the tranquillity of this bio-diversity hot spot which boasts of reptiles, mollusks and over 70 species of fresh water fish. Rise early morning and leave for Mirissa, a small sandy tropical beach village which boasts some of Sri Lanka’s most stunning sunsets and sunrises. It is also on the worlds 'Top Hot Spots' for Sperm and Blue whale sightings.

Visit the mask factory in Ambalangoda, and explore Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery. Stay overnight in Galle. (B/-/D)
